Old Northeast Overview:
Old Northeast is St. Petersburg’s oldest neighborhood. Located adjacent to downtown St. Petersburg and the waterfront, Old Northeast is best known for its historic homes, cobble stone streets, and luscious and diverse foliage.

Neighborhood Boundaries: Old Northeast is bordered by 4th St. to the west, 5th Ave. to the south, 30th Ave to the north, and North Shore Park to the east.

Old Northeast Apartments and Real Estate: Old Northeast is best known for its historic homes. Predominant architectural styles include Colonial Revival, Mediterranean Revival, Bungalow, Williamsburg, and Prairie.

Old Northeast Restaurants: Northeast has some of the best restaurants in the Tampa Bay area. Redwood Restaurant, located on 246 Central Ave., has fresh fish flown in daily from Hawaii. Chateau France, located on 136 Fourth Ave. N, is considered the premiere French restaurant in Tampa Bay, and requires reservations way in advance. Limey’s, located on 1492 4th St., offers residents an authentic English pub atmosphere and a large selection of imported beer.

Old Northeast Parks & Recreation: Residents of Old Northeast have numerous parks to chose from. Vinoy Park, located on 501 Laguna Dr., is situated on prime waterfront property. Visitors can have a picnic, watch dolphins play in the Gulf, or sun bathe on an adjacent beach. North Shore Park, located on North Shore Dr. and 13th Ave., has a great dog park and playground. Coffee Pot Park, located on 1St. and 31st Ave., offers a boat ramp and great fishing.

Old Northeast History: Old Northeast use to be covered in pine trees, palmettos, and salt marshes. It was home to the Tocobaga tribe, and in the 1800’s the land was developed for agriculture, mostly for orange groves. Finally, in 1911, C. Perry Snell and J.C. Hamlett developed it into a premiere residential area, complete with trolley lines, sidewalks, seawalls, and a waterfront park.
